| Lake Mary High School had the second highest SAT score (1568) in Seminole County with the highest score in the district being 1571. Student categorical scores increased in Critical Reading and Writing while maintaining the same score in Math. Lake Mary High School;S AT score for the 2011 school year was the third highest in Seminole County wit a composite score of 21.7 with the district leader being 22.2. Lake Mary had the second greatest score gain in Reading, fourth in Math, and were second highest in Scientific Reasoning. |

| Congratulations junior, Anish K. for being selected as Seminole County Public School’s Sunshine State Scholar. The Sunshine State Scholars recognizes Florida's top eleventh grade students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), recruits them to stay in Florida for their postsecondary education, and introduces them to the vast array of STEM career opportunities available in their home state. This is quite an honor and something ALL of us should be proud of for Anish! |

| Abby Youngless and the rest of the LMHS Debate Team won the Lincoln Douglas Speech Competition at the NCFCFL qualifier held at Timber Creek. Abby went undefeated during eight hours of intense competition and brought back a trophy for Lake Mary High School. |
| Twenty-two Art Students had their artwork selected to represent Lake Mary High School in the prestigious 2012 Florida State Fair Art Exhibit. Congratulations to Audrey Alexis, Shirley Castillo, Edward Castillo, Meagan Dessert, Claire Frost, Megan Goolsby, David Grace, Beverly Johnson, Katherine Kaplan, Blake Linquist, Marissa Mastrapa, Katie Miller, Gabriella Moser, Jean Park, Caroline Parr, Elizabeth Piperno, Tatheer Remtulla, Alyssa Rohloff, Hala Samaan, Micaella Sibayan, Ellen Webb, and Ivan Yim. Both Megan Goolsby and Ivan Yim had their Portfolios accepted for scholarship consideration. |

| The Speech and Debate Team dominated the Public Forum category at the NFCFL Regional Qualifier. Trevor R. and Danielle B. both brought home trophies in a very challenging competition. |
| Shea S., Logan S., Jason L., Sunil M., Elizabeth P., and Caroline P. as Lake Mary High School's 2011-2012 Jefferson Award Winners. The Jefferson Awards are presented on two levels, national and local. They began in 1972 to create a Nobel Prize for public service. Today, their primary purpose is to serve as a "Call to Action for Volunteers" in local communities. Jefferson Awards are a prestigious national recognition system honoring community and public service in America. In addition to the four students announced earlier in the year, these students are also our school's representatives and will now move forward to the local level and once the evaluation part is over the national committee will then determine if they will advance to the national level. |
| The following students: Lauren A., Sameer B., Jessica C., Louis D., Jerome H., Rachel R., and Alex W. were selected for the the All-County Band. The band is comprised of SCPS students who auditioned in November for a chance to be a part of this Seminole All-County Honor Band. Over 400 students auditioned and only the best were selected for this band. The students only had 9 hours to prepare music that was of college level. The band was conducted by the University of South Florida's director Dr. John Carmichael. The performance was held on Saturday, January 28, with a standing room only crowd (over 900 in attendance). |

| Emily W. is the recipient of the 2012 City of Longwood's Juvenile of the Year Award. This award has been given out for more than 3 decades -- and it honors students from local area schools who try their best, follow directions, have a positive attitude and are leaders amongst their peers. They need to have good attendance and show a true effort with regard to their grades. Emily is pictured with Principal Mike Kotkin and Counselor Dan Cannon.

| The JazzRams earned straight SUPERIORS at the Florida Bandmasters Association District VI High School Jazz Band Performance Assessment. This very talented group entertained the crowd with three numbers: Go Tell It On the Mountain, When Big Bands Ruled the Earth, and Give Up the Funk. |
